Drunk lawmaker’s driver kills two, injures nine in Ogun

The  driver of a Nissan Serena SUV, marked 25 OGHA, allegedly the official car of a member of Ogun State House of Assembly, has killed two persons and injured nine others.
It occurred at 11: 35a.m., at the notorious Onipepeiye village in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state, yesterday morning along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu Expressway.
It was gathered that the accident involved a Toyota Picnic passenger SUV, marked LAGOS KSF 957 BB and the Nissan Serena SUV, marked 25 OGHA.
It was further gathered that the Sango Ota-bound Toyota SUV had taken passengers from Challenge area in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, before the vehicle developed a fault at Onipepeiye village.
The Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Adegoke Adetunji, who confirmed the accident, said 17 people were involved in the crash.
Adetunji said that the driver of the Toyota SUV had stopped his vehicle to change one of the faulty tyres. That was when the Ogun State House of Assembly vehicle rammed into it, killing the driver and one of the passengers.
Also, the Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident, saying the driver of the Assembly member was on speed when the crash occurred.
Akinbiyi said that they discovered that the driver was drunk at the time of the crash.
The FRSC Sector Commander explained that all the injured victims had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Abeokuta, while the two corpses were also deposited at the same hospital.
Adetunji said that police had arrested the drunk-driver of the Nissan Serena SUV.
