Kidnappers release APC councillorship candidate’s daughter after father withdraws from race

All Progressives Congress, APC, councillorship candidate for Odi-Olowo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Lagos, Bode Adeosun, has withdrawn from the race, following threat by kidnappers to abduct his children.
Investigation revealed that his withdrawal was the only condition given by abductors for the release of his abducted 19-year-old daughter, Bukola.
Bukola was abducted by gun-toting men at about 9p.m last Tuesday and taken to an unknown destination. Her abductors, as gathered, contacted her father in the early hours of yesterday, informing him that Bukola was in their custody.

Arsonists kill family of 3, because man resisted rape attempt on wife

Unidentified arsonists, believed to be cultists, have set ablaze a family house at Okpako-Ejemah in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, killing one Alhaji Hamza Garuba, his wife and a step-son.
Mr. Muhammed Sani, younger brother to Garuba, narrated that about five arsonists invaded his brother’s house at about 10p.m., Sunday, and attempted to rob the family.

A 13-year-old teenager, who was chained by his father for stealing his N2,000, was rescued by policemen attached to Shagamu Police Division of the Ogun State Command, yesterday.
Neighbours at 9, Dokun Street said the teenager was found on the bare floor, naked, with his hands and legs bound. They also said he had blood stains on his body.
When asked why he was in the position, his father, Adeoye Oreyomi, 41, accused him of stealing his N2,000.

Five die in stampede over N500 alms in Katsina

five persons, including four minors and one 40-year-old woman died in a stampede, while collecting N500 alms (Zakkat) in Katsina State.
Meanwhile, the state’s Police Command said it had arrested one Kamal Ma’a Gafi, who was giving the alms.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the incident and arrest, also said the incident left 15 persons with injuries.

188,588 signatures collated for Dino's recall

Moves to recall Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi West from the National Assembly thickened yesterday, as the pro-Dino’s recall group claimed it had gathered 188,588 signatures out of the 360,098 registered voters in Kogi West, representing 52 percent required for his removal.
This came on the heels of a Dino support group describing the recall process as a ‘comedy’.

Joy Odama's death: IGP fixes fresh autopsy for today, as prime suspect suddenly appears

Police investigations into the suspected murder of Joy Odama, a 200-Level undergraduate of Mass Communication of Cross River State University, in Abuja, took a new twist, yesterday, as the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, through the IGP Monitoring Unit, ordered that a fresh autopsy be carried out to confirm the cause of her death.

Police kill Okadaman over N50 in Enugu

THERE is tension as the Police in Enugu State and members of Ikpa-modo, Enugu Ezike, in Igboeze North Local Government Area of the state trade blames over the death of 38-year-old man, Bitrus Chukwudi Ugwuanyi.
It was alleged that Ugwuanyi, who was an Okadama (commercial motorcyclist), was killed by policemen for his inability to pay them N50.

Cleric butchers 7-yr-old boy, buries head in Church

There was tension, yesterday, in Odokekere area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, following the discovery of the dismembered body of a seven-year-old boy, Kazeem Rafiu, at a Church building.
A self-acclaimed prophet, simply identified as Eri Imole, family friend to the boy’s parents, had reportedly established a white garment church about two months ago in the area.
The boy’s dismembered body was found in the Church's uncompleted building.

Man in trouble as lover dies in Enugu hotel room

One Joel of Enugu State is currently undergoing interrogation in the hands of detectives from Enugu State Police Command as to what led to the death of a lady identified as Ifeyinwa after they both checked into a hotel room in Enugu.
Joel admitted to checking into the hotel with the woman before her sudden death, saying he rushed the deceased to a nearby hospital, where the doctors confirmed her dead.

Badoo Boys wipe out Ikorodu family, take out pregnant woman’s unborn baby

Again, Badoo Boys struck in Ikorodu area of Lagos, killing a man, his pregnant wife and two children. One of the children, suspected to have been raped, was still lying unconscious in the hospital at 6p.m., yesterday.
Four members of the gang stormed Mr. Israel Olusanya’s home at Itamaga, Radio Area of Erunwen at 1a.m., on  Tuesday, in a black SUV. 46-year-old Olusanya was a farmer, while his wife was a teacher.
The assailants gained entry into the apartment through a window, smashed the Olusanya’s heads with a grinding stone, ripped the pregnant woman’s womb open and removed the foetus.

Man rubs salt, pepper into housemaid’s injuries in Aba

A man, identified as Chibuike Onwuchekwa, inflicted injuries on his housemaid for failing to fill two water containers at Umuga Ovom in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
Eyewitnesses said that Onwuchekwa and his wife had, last Sunday, sent the young girl (names withheld) to fill two water containers in their house from a nearby borehole, while they left for church service.

Google has unveiled final plans for its luxury £1billion UK super headquarters with sleep pods, sports pitches and a rooftop 'field' with 200-metre running track to ensure 'wellness' for up to 7,000 staff.
The tech giant's 870,000 sq ft building planned for Kings Cross in London will be the first office it has designed for itself outside California.
Described as a 'groundscraper' because the building will be as long as the Shard is tall - designers say when completed it will be one of the best places to work in the world.
