I woke up to find my boss in my bed!

I am a P. A. to the Managing Director of a big company and whenever we have the Annual General Meeting, we often book rooms at the venue of such meetings for effective co-ordination.
A few weeks ago, we had last year’s AGM and a few of us got a bit drunk as the meeting went rather well.
You can imagine how shocked I was when I woke up the next morning to find my boss in my bed!

#SURRENDERED: She thought the camera was a gun

This Syrian girl is four-year-old. Her name is Adi Hudea. Since her father died in the 2012 Hama massacre, she has been living with her traumatised mother at the Atmen refugee camp on Syria's border with Turkey.
When Turkish photojournalist, Osman Sagirli, pointed his camera at little Hudea to take a shot, she lifted up her hands in surrender, thinking it was a gun.
The terror in those eyes, clenched fists and tight lips is heartbreaking and should prick the conscience of warmongers worldwide.

Brazil's Miss Bum Bum turns to God

Brazil's Miss BumBum runner-up, Andressa Urach, has decided to join an evangelical church after she survived months in intensive care treating rotting legs.
The 27-year-old mother of one, had revealed that she had hydrogel and PMMA injected into her upper legs to lift her bottom. They caused infection, which led to her leg muscles rotting.
She also had a nose job, a bioplasty facial correction, jaw reduction, boob job, liposuction and vaginal lip reduction.
She almost died from the botched plastic surgery and feared she would lose her legs after fillers got infected and had to be removed.
Now, she says having legs and half bum bum is enough for her to honour God with.
Brazil overtook United States of America in 2013 to become the most prolific plastic surgery nation in the world.
About 1.5 million procedures were performed in the country, representing an increase of 600,000 in two years.

I feel guilty for feeling happy my husband died

I was married for over 20 years, but my husband died towards the end of last year. Before he even fell ill, he had got himself a girlfriend, who was pregnant for him. As a result of this, he made life almost unbearable for me and the children.
He was making plans to make her a second wife when he fell ill and was hospitalized. He had even warned that I should look for a place to live with my children as he meant to move to the new house with this woman. On paper, the house belonged to him though I gave him all the financial support I could when he was building it.
To cut a long story short, he died suddenly and, God forgive me, I was ecstatic when I learned of his death. I shed no tears for him at his funeral and people believed I was still in shock. I knew better. It was more of good riddance to bad rubbish.
I felt guilty though, that I couldn't even cry for a man I had spent the best years of my life with and with whom I had four children. I am a good Christian and I would want a way to get over the bitterness of thinking that if he hadn't died, my children and I would have been almost destitute.

It could be really harmful when dreams you have had over the years become rubbished. As hard as this sounds, you have to remember the good times you shared with your dead husband.
Can your church help? Sometimes, speaking to a priest in your church could bring the relief you never suspected you could have.
The man is now dead and is immune to whatever bitterness you harbour. In the meantime, you should learn to move on with your life. Even if he hadn't died, you would have discovered that you wouldn't be destitute.
At least, some of your children are now grown and might be in a position to help. In the meantime, think only positive thoughts. Believe me, you will eventually get over your resentment—you just have to be willing to let go of it.

Woman kills husband over PDP, APC presidential candidates

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old pregnant woman for allegedly stabbing her husband to death during a quarrel over who would emerge winner between the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidates, at Ejigbo area of the state.

The incident ccurred at about 12noon inside the couple’s one room apartment at 81 Military Zone junction.

There were different accounts on how tragedy struck. A version of the account said the couple had divergent views on their choice of presidential candidates. While the husband was said to have decided to vote for PDP, his wife, simply called Onyiyechi, reportedly chose to vote APC. An argument which degenerated into a fight over whose choice would hold sway reportedly ensued between them.

In the process, Onyiyechi allegedly stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife in the chest region.

30-yr-old dies over a stick of cigarette

State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, are currently investigating the murder of 30-year-old Idowu Malik, aka Ori-gold, who was supposedly murdered by one Ali Mustapha at Ikotun area of Lagos.
It was learned that the suspect, Ali Mustapha, a petty trader, operates a mini kiosk where he sells household items and other consumables.
The victim, Idowu, came to Ali’s shop to purchase a stick of cigarette, which he purportedly bought on credit. An hour later Idowu came back to Ali’s shop and demanded for another stick of cigarette without paying for the previous one.
Ali refused to sell to the victim on credit. What followed was a confrontation that later degenerated into a brawl. During the fight, Ali allegedly hit Idowu on his head with a huge stick. He reportedly bled to death.
Suspect’s confession
Confessing to the crime, 42-year-old Ali Mustpha said: “I am from Kwara State. I have a shop where I sell articles. That evening Ori-gold came to buy a stick of cigarette from me without paying. Later, he came back and asked for another stick, when I refused, he got very angry and attacked me. While we were fighting, I hit his head with a stick.
“Before I knew what was happening, blood was gushing out from his head and he collapsed.
“When the bleeding became serious, neighbours assisted and rushed him to a nearby hospital (names withheld) at Ikotun. Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead on arrival by the doctor on duty.
“I was arrested by the Ikotun Divisional Police before I was transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department. We  had no  misunderstanding before the incident.”

FG denies reports of more kidnaps in Damasak

The Federal Government, yesterday, denied that there were fresh kidnap incidents by Boko Haram in Damasak, Borno State, as widely reported.
Mr. Mike Omeri, Coordinator, National Information Centre, said this much yesterday in Abuja, while giving update on the security situation in the North-East.
He said: “The centre wishes to clarify that there is no fresh abduction in Damasak, Borno, as has been reported.
“Additionally, the centre does not have information on the number of those missing after the liberation of the community.
“Damasak was under the control of Boko Haram for several months before being liberated last week by the Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF, troops.
“During their occupation of Damasak, Boko Haram moved the community members from their homes to an Islamiyya school.
“However, on hearing of the impending military attack, the insurgents released women, the elderly and children before retreating from Damasak.”

Reclaimed Michika residents storm INEC office in Adamawa; they want to vote

There was a mild drama in Adamawa State capital yesterday, as the people of Michika Local Government, which was recently reclaimed from Boko Haram insurgents, stormed the headquarters of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, demanding to cast their votes in the March 28 and April 11 elections at home.
The protesters, in their hundreds, barricaded the main entrance to INEC office as fierce-looking military and other security agents kept vigil to prevent possible outbreak of law and order.
They carried placards with such inscriptions as “We want to vote at home,” “80% percent of the population of Michika are now back home and why should INEC compel us to vote in Yola,” “INEC, do not disenfranchise us; allow us to perform our civic responsibilities with our kiths and kins,” among others.
A delegation of the protesters was later ushered into the INEC headquarters, where they held discussions with the officials of the electoral body.
INEC officials, however, kept sealed lips over their discussions with the protesters.
Some of the protesters, who spoke to Vanguard, stated that all they wanted was for INEC to allow them to cast their votes in Michika and not Yola, the state capital.
They said security situation there was good for them to exercise their civic rights at home.
The leader of the protesters, Mr. James Manager, said the people were not contemplating boycotting the election, but wanted to vote at home.
According to Mr. James Manager, if the elections will be conducted in other reclaimed areas of the state, “there is no justification, that election should not also be conducted in Michika.”

#NIGERIADECIDES: Assassins after me, says Amaechi; He's a pathological liar—PDP

Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has petitioned President Goodluck Jonathan to guarantee his safety after alleging a conspiracy to assassinate him on presidential election day.
The plot, the governor told newsmen last night, was hatched at the highest level of the executive branch of the Federal Government.
However, Peoples Democratic Party, Presidential Campaign Organization, PDPPCO, dismissed the alarm, describing Governor Amaechi as a pathological liar.
Amaechi, who is also Director-General of the Buhari Campaign Organization said the plot to be executed by men of the Department of State Services, DSS, with backing of soldiers from the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, was leaked to him by a party to the plot, who feared for the consequences.
The governor said as part of the plot, a reconnaissance was carried out in his village, Ubima, yesterday.
The governor, who claimed that security around him had been depleted, said he would not leave the country as family members and friends have been trying to make him.

The 'Army'
He said: “They have approved for 30 soldiers to come from 82 Division and yesterday they had reconnaissance in my village and it is being led by an Idoma-born Major.
“This plan was hatched by DSS, which then asked for military cover for when they would come to my village. When I initially heard about it, I did not bother.
“I felt it was one of those rumours that politicians get until people from my village reported to me last night that strange people came into the community, drove round and left.
“The person, who gave me the information, called back last night to say that they have come for reconnaissance and that by Thursday (today) I should be careful.
“The person suggested that I leave the country and I felt that it would be cowardly and that if the President wants me dead, let me first let the public know before I am shot to death.
“I hope you know that the Chief of Army Staff is from Rivers State? This morning he has taken over Opobo town, where the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, comes from and where he also comes from.
“They have deployed soldiers all over Rivers State; they are killing citizens. Also, the Police report clearly indicts some people in Okiirika.
“I was the target of the shooting, but unfortunately for them they did not realize that I was going to be stopped from going because I had to brief the leadership of (Buhari) campaign and that was what saved my life.
“I need the President, Inspector-General of Police and Chief of Army Staff to guarantee my safety.
“I have no CSO and ADC. When I spoke to my director to ask the DG, DSS to post a CSO to me, he refused. My security has been depleted deliberately by the Federal Government.”
The governor said he had already articulated a petition to the President on the development.
Asked, if he would heed the call of loved ones to flee, he said: “The way to ask for change is not to run away from change, it is to confront change.”

He's a pathological
liar—PDP
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party, Presidential Campaign Organization, PDPPCO, lampooned Governor Rotimi Amaechi over the alleged assassination attempt.
Director of Media and Publicity of the PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, described governor Rotimi Amaechi as a pathological liar for alleging that President Goodluck Jonathan planned to kill him.
He said: “This is another example of the madness that has affected the minds of APC leaders. Amaechi is the worst of them. Not only is he deluded, he is also a pathological liar.
“The President has no intention of killing Amaechi and neither does he wish him dead. We would rather defeat him and his presidential candidate at the polls on Saturday and ensure he is alive to witness it.
“PDP is not a party of murderers and neither do members indulge in violence.”

#NIGERIANS DECIDE: N230m Bauchi PDP campaign funds missing— CAMPAIGN DG

The Director-General of President Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Council in Bauchi State, Alhaji Mai’auduga, has raised alarm that over N230 million funds meant to support Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaigns in the state was yet to reach the group from the Presidency.
Mai’auduga, who is also the Director General of Governor Yuguda Campaign Organisation, stated this yesterday in Bauchi.
He said: “The state campaign council has already set up a committee, headed by Governor Isa Yuguda, to find the missing funds and whoever is guilty of the dubious act of diverting the funds will face the disciplinary action from the party.
“The money was released to the state campaign council in two batches of N80 million and N150 million. They were diverted by prominent persons in the party and we requested the governor to investigate and find the missing funds.”

Late Aishat laid to rest; autopsy reveals she wasn't pregnant

The remains of late Aishat Noble-Mustapha, the Silverbird staff, murdered at her Ogudu Government Reserved Area residence in Lagos two weeks ago, was buried at Atan Cemetery, Lagos State, yesterday amid tears.
Meanwhile, autopsy report has shown that the deceased was not pregnant as widely reported.
Rather, the report showed that the 25-year-old lady died from internal bleeding.
She was reportedly buried at the insistence of her family, in spite of ongoing investigation into the circumstance that led to her murder.
However, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, said the burial would not hamper investigation.
He said: “Crime has no time limit. I want to say that police is still investigating; some tests have been conducted and autopsy done.
“But we cannot add to the family’s trauma; they requested the burial and we allowed it.”
Spokesperson for the bereaved family and husband of late Aishat’s aunt, Mr. Abubakar Haruna, urged the police to unearth the circumstance surrounding her death and bring the killer(s) to book.
At the burial, her colleagues from Silverbird and the University of Lagos, where she was a student, wore black t-shirt bearing her picture.

11-yr-old boy commits suicide over N200

An 11-year-old boy, Terkula Botwer, has reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree at Achusa village in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.
An eyewitness that the teenager allegedly took his life after being accused by his guardian of stealing N200, the only money she had.
A source said: “It all happened on Sunday morning, when the boy’s guardian, Mrs. Nadoo Hember, was alleged to have complained that her only N200 was missing in the house she lived in with the late boy.
“She confronted the boy, who denied taking the money. But as she was leaving for church, she allegedly warned the boy that if the money was not found, she would be forced to return him to his patents in the village.
“Unfortunately, when she got back from church later in the day, the boy was nowhere to be found. But after a search, the lifeless body of the boy was seen hanging on a tree at the back of the house.
“It was at that point that she raised alarm that attracted neighbours, who gathered at the scene.”
Corroborating the story, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Assistant Superintendent Austin Ezeani, said the matter was reported last Sunday at the ‘B’ Division of the state Police Command from where officers went and recovered the remains of the boy from the scene after which they deposited same at Makurdi Federal Medical Centre.
Ezeani, who said no arrests had been made on the issue, added that “we are carrying out serious investigations into the matter to unravel the mystery of the bizarre death.”

Hoodlums attack Vanguard’s General Editor, 3 others in traffic; cart away cash, valuables

It is no longer news that Lagos, commercial hub of the nation, has been bedevilled by perennial traffic gridlocks on most major routes. What is news now is attacks on exasperated motorists by hoodlums in traffic.
The latest attack was that on Vanguard’s General Editor, Mr. Adekunle Adekoya; Assistant Chief Sub-Editor, Mr. Etop Ekanem and a Senior Sub-Editor, Mr. Oboh Agbonkhese, yesterday, on Ijora Bridge. Time was 1.35pm.
Mr. Emeka Anaeto, Vanguard’s Economy Editor, was also attacked in front of the National Stadium at about 2:30pm.
Motorists who use the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway have been going through hell, daily, in the unending traffic gridlock caused by drivers of heavy duty vehicles.
Marauding hoodlums take advantage of this to attack trapped motorists, while the federal and state governments trade blames on the causes.

Beating the traffic
To beat the traffic along the Oshodi/Apapa Expressway, motorists with destinations along the axis resort to other routes to link their offices on daily basis. One of the alternative routes is the Costain-Ijora-Mobil (Malu) Road.
Unfortunately, this route is not spared the unending traffic gridlock associated with Lagos State, as motorists are trapped for several hours before getting to their respective destinations.
Hoodlums, using dangerous weapons, dare security agents as they operate in broad daylight, dispossessing trapped motorists of cash, telephones, laptops, tablet PCs and other valuables.
Vanguard staff are not spared this ordeal as over 12 staff had been attacked in one month by hoodlums.
The trio of General Editor, Adekunle Adekoya, Etop Ekanem and Oboh Agbonkhese were on their way to work at Vanguard’s corporate headquarters, located at Kirikiri Canal, off Berger Yard Bus Stop, along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway yesterday.
Ordinarily, they ought to have used the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, but to avoid the gridlock, Adekoya opted to drive through Ijora, a route he had used for years, and is familiar with, but ran into another gridlock.
Moving at a snail pace after close to an hour of being trapped at a point, 10 men, whose ages were estimated at between 20 and 24, emerged from nowhere.

Victims’ stories
According to Etop, “one of them broke the side window and even destroyed the bumper. From the shattered glass, they took the General Editor’s bag containing documents and cash, as well as his blazer jacket.
“In my attempt to prevent one of the hoodlums from taking the items away, I sustained injury on one of my fingers. The incident lasted 20 minutes.
“They also attacked other cars in the traffic. Some motorists even left their vehicles and ran away.”
Asked if the hoodlums were armed, Etop replied: “They were just shouting, attacking people and vandalizing vehicles. I did not see any gun with any of them. I do not know if they had hidden it somewhere.”
According to Adekoya, "somebody hit me from behind. As I made to find out what happened, I heard a bang on the rear window glass, which immediately cascaded into shards of broken glass.
“A fellow reached in, opened the door, and made for my work bag containing cash, bank cheque books, and other documents. Etop struggled with the fellow, got wounded and started bleeding. He let go of the bag.
“Another member of the gang u-turned, reached into the car again, removed my blazer, and took it away, all in broad daylight. The attack began at 1.35p.m."
Etop added that among other victims was a woman who bled profusely from an injury to her wrist. The hoodlums had vandalized their car and the driver of the vehicle kept asking “where is the nearest hospital?”
Mr. Anaeto, the Economy Editor, who was attacked in front of the National Stadium, said he abandoned his car and tried to escape, but was surrounded by about 10 of the hoodlums, who took everything, except his clothes, from him.
Meanwhile, people were watching from across the road, while shop owners around shut their doors against him when he tried to take refuge.

Police story
When contacted to find out why no policeman was stationed along that axis to control traffic, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Kenneth Nwosu, disclosed that policemen were at one end of the bridge.
He added that when report of the attack reached the Police, a team of policemen was drafted to scene, where two of the suspected hoodlums were arrested.
He added that efforts were still on to apprehend other fleeing members.
He could, however, not state whether items stolen from Vanguard’s General Editor, Adekoya, were recovered from the suspects.

Navy
The area is one of the designated points for Navy patrol since the launch of a task force, Operation Gbale, a Yoruba word for sweeping, by the former Flag Officer Commanding, FOC, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Ilesanmi Alade, to proffer a lasting solution to the traffic gridlock that had kept Apapa on lockdown for years.
A senior Naval officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, pointed out that the control of traffic was not the constitutional responsibility of the Navy, but that it decided to help out because of the security implication of such situation.
However, Naval authorities assured Vanguard that officers would be drafted to the axis.

Gwoza escapee narrates ordeal; says women, girls trapped

A 38-year-old woman, who escaped from Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, Monday, said yesterday that hundreds of women kidnapped by Boko Haram sect were still trapped and kept in various houses in the town.
She said since the insurgents captured the town, many women and young girls, numbering over 100, had been relocated from Sambisa Forest, were brought in by the sect and kept in Gwoza.
Gwoza, about 250km south of Maiduguri, the state capital, was declared Islamic caliphate by Shekau immediately after taking over the town, with over 50 policemen still missing and scores of residents dead.
Narrating her ordeal to journalists in one of the Internally Displaced Persons Camps, IDPs, in Maiduguri, the escapee said they were kept in one of the beautiful houses in Gwoza, along with some young girls brought in from Sambisa Forest by the sect.

‘My escape’
On how she escaped from Gwoza, she said: “There was a loud bang, suspected to be a bomb explosion, near our house. It forced us to break the wall and escape, while two of the young girls died.
“Two others also sustained injuries during the blasts and shooting that engulfed the town. As I speak with you now, many of these young girls and women are still trapped in Gwoza.”
The woman said she later found herself before former governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna, in Madagali, who assisted her by calling her brother in Yola.
The mother of five noted that she was happy in Maiduguri, where she met her husband, who had earlier escaped, doing fine in one of the IDP camps, although she did not say anything about the whereabouts of her children.
She said: “I thank God for saving my life from the hands of Boko Haram. We have been under their control in the last three months; they kept us with many young girls.
“They gave us food every day, but they did not allow us to go out. Sometimes the leader will go round all the places and preach their ideology to us.”

I was hypnotized, says lady who killed lover over N200

Gift Wahab, the 20-year-old lady, who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death in Ajegunle area of Lagos last Thursday, said she was hypnotized by a force she could not resist.
The suspect, who said she was yet to come to terms with the reality of her boyfriend’s death, said the argument that resulted in the fight, which led to her boyfriend’s death, was over N200.
She said: “He usually gave me N200 as feeding money. On that day, as we were returning from where we went to drink, I became hungry and complained to him.
“He got angry and asked why I should complain of hunger after he had spent the only money he had on drinks. An argument ensued, during which he slapped me in the public.
“I got angry and held on to his shirt. He kept beating me and in the process, he inflicted injury on my nose.
“It was when I saw blood gushing from my nose that I ran inside the room and brought out a knife. He dared me to stab him and I stabbed him in the neck, not knowing he would die.

‘He removed me
from the streets

In an emotional-laden tone, she stated that she owed her boyfriend, Ebi Amadu, a lot, revealing that he removed her from the streets, after they met in 2012.
She said: “We met in a hotel in Ojo Road and since then, I have been living with him and members of his family, comprising his mother and five siblings in a one-room apartment at 10 Ligali Street, Off Ojo Road.
“Along the line I got pregnant but I lost the pregnancy late last year.
“Though he was not rich, we were managing. He usually gave me N200 for feeding each day. I never meant to kill him. It was a mistake.
“In fact, I was under a spell. I was hypnotized. I have never killed anyone in my life. Why will it be my boyfriend?“
When the late Amadu was stabbed, he attempted to remove the knife and in the process, fell into a drain.
A mob reportedly attempted to lynch Gift, but for the arrival of policemen from Layeni Division.
The mob, Gift said, “descen-ded on me, saying they would kill me the same way I killed Ebi. I passed out when one of them landed a blow on my nose, which was still bleeding.
“The next time I opened my eyes, I found myself in the Police Station.
“I sincerely beg for forgiveness from my late boyfriend’s family. I know this will not bring their son back. But please let them forgive me.”
The suspect, according to the Police, would be charged to court at the end of investigation.

Man sentenced to death for stealing mobile phone, N10,000

A Delta State High Court sitting at Akwukwu-Igbo, headquarters of Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state has sentenced one Vincent Okwekwu to death by hanging for stealing a mobile phone and N10,000 cash from his victims, while armed with a gun.

The court gave the verdict having convicted the accused of the offence of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, the substantive offence of armed robbery, which was reduced to a lesser offence of robbery.

Presiding judge, Justice H. O. Akpotohwo, sentenced the accused to death by hanging for the offence of conspiracy and 21 years jail term for each of the other two counts.

Prosecution from the Department of Public Prosecutions, DPP, had told the court that Vincent Okwekwu, on or about November 1, 2009 with two others, now at large, broke into the apartments of one Ofoyeju Peter and Tietie Moses and robbed them of cash amounting to N10,000 and a mobile phone, while armed with a gun and a cutlass.

The offence took place at Umueha quarters, Ibusa.

Nemesis caught up with them when his victims raised alarm that attracted members of the vigilante group in the area that led to his arrest as the hoodlums made to escape from the scene of crime.
While Okwekwu was caught, two other members of the gang escaped into a nearby bush.
The prosecution further told the court that the accused, who was later handed over to the police, admitted to have committed the crime in his voluntary statement.

He denied the charge as he pleaded not guilty to all the three count charges read to him by the court clerk, when he was arraigned before the court.

How my Facebook lover died— MARRIED FATHER OF 2

Christopher  Ezekiel, who is currently being investigated by Lagos State Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba over the death of his Facebook lover, Adekemi Faboro, has revealed how she died.
Recounting the incident that led to the victim’s death, the father of two said this was actually the second time he was visiting her house in Lagos.
He said:  "I met her online sometime between September and October 2014 on Facebook and we began to chat. Early this year, she came to Sagamu to visit me and she spent two days with me. She actually came on Friday and went back to Lagos on Saturday.
"I have an apartment where I work in Sagamu, but my wife and children live in another apartment in Ibadan. I came to see her in Lagos around first week of March, where I spent the weekend with her. This was the second time I visited her.
“On that fateful evening, we went out, spent quality time together and later retired to her apartment and slept.
“At about midnight, she began to complain about headache and then she started coughing. She coughed for a long while.
“It was when the coughing persisted that I had to go and knock on her next neighbours’ door to help me locate a nearby hospital, since I am not familiar with Lagos terrain.
"So with the help of her neighbours, we went to a nearby private hospital. After examining her condition, she was referred to the general hospital. At this time, her condition was getting worse, yet I did all I could to get her to the hospital.
"With the assistance of her neighbours, we made it to Ifako General Hospital in Ogba. By the time they began to attend to her, she had passed on. I am not in any way responsible for her death."
Ezekiel was arrested over the death of his Facebook lover, Adekemi, who died during his visit to her apartment at 5, Folorunsho Street, off Ajayi Road, Ogba.
It was learned that the suspect’s wife who works with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, in Ibadan, was at the State Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, last Wednesday to see her husband.
Confirming the incident, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said autopsy would soon be conducted to determine the actual cause of the victim’s death as investigation continues.

Woman can occupy highest office in Nigeria— LAGOS HOS

The Lagos State  Head of Service, HOS, Mrs Folashade Jaji, has said that there were women capable of occupying the highest office in Nigeria if given the necessary support, urging mothers to train their sons to respect women.
She added that women in Lagos State government, for instance, had gone beyond advocating the affirmative action to taking their destiny in their hands by achieving goals and making their marks.
Mrs Jaji spoke at 2015 International Women’s Day celebration on Equality for Women, Make it Happen, organized by Trade Union Congress, TUC, Women Commission in Lagos.
Earlier, Chairperson of the commission, Mrs Oyinka Olasanoye, said: “Whether you have chosen to be a stay-at-home mother, in full-time employment or running your own business, it is essential that you are committed to developing yourself with additional training and knowledge.”
She said two-thirds of the over 700 million illiterates in the world were women, with the ratio worse in developing countries.
On his part, TUC President, Mr. Bobboi Bala-Kaigama said: “Equality for women is equality for all. Records testify to the truth that countries and companies with higher levels of gender equality have higher socio-economic growth and development.”

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION: Man, 24, allegedly rapes friend to death

Magistrate Martins Akinyemi of an Abeokuta Magistrate’s Court, yesterday, ordered a 24-year-old man, Michael Oyejide, remanded in Ibara Prison custody for allegedly raping his 18-year-old friend, Morenike Ajayi, to death.
The prosecutor, Cpl Moshood Hammer, told the court that the accused and one other at large, committed the offence on January 8, at Ijeja in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He said: “Around 8p.m., Oyejide, alias MI, celebrated his birthday at Adigbe and some ladies were invited. Later at night, the accused and one other got the victim, who is also a friend, drunk.
“The accused and his friend took the victim to his house at Ijeja and raped her to death.”
He said they pretended to be sympathizers and rushed her to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead on arrival.
“The management of the hospital reported the case to the Police, which led to Oyejide’s arrest,” Hammed said.
The Prosecutor argued that the offence contravened Sections 516, 357 and 358 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, whose plea was not taken by the court, is facing a two-count of rape and murder.
Akinyemi adjourned the case to June 5, pending the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP’s advice, for further hearing on the matter.

Boko Haram insurgents slaughter ‘wives’ before Bama clash with troops

Dozens of Nigerian women, who were forced to marry Boko Haram fighters, were reportedly slaughtered by their “husbands” before a battle with troops in the North-East town of Bama in Borno State, witnesses said yesterday.
Five witnesses, who recounted the massacres, said the Islamist militants feared they would be killed by advancing soldiers or separated from their wives when they fled the town.
Report said they killed the women to prevent them from subsequently marrying soldiers or other so-called non-believers.
“The terrorists said they will not allow their wives to be married to infidels,” said Sharifatu Bakura, 39, a mother of three.
According to Bakura’s account, which was supported by others, Boko Haram fighters received word of a military assault on Bama, formerly an Islamist stronghold in Borno State.
The insurgents had reportedly decided to flee to the nearby town of Gwoza before the troops’ arrival, but first decided “to kill their wives so that nobody will remarry them,” she said.
Bakura’s husband was killed by the insurgents four months ago, but spared a forced marriage because she was pregnant.

The ‘marriage’
Boko Haram forcibly married scores of women in Bama after seizing it in September. Military authorities announced the recapture of the town Monday.
Witnesses, who were taken under military protection this week to Borno’s capital Maiduguri, 73 kilometres away, said the killing of women began 10 days before Bama was liberated.
According to the Islamists, “if they kill their wives, they would remain pious until both of them meet again in heaven, where they would re-unite,” said Salma Mahmud, another witness.
A vigilante who fought alongside the military in the battle to retake Bama, Abba Kassim, said he saw “dozens of women corpses” in the town.
While other witnesses reported a similarly high casualty figure, the numbers were impossible to verify.
Security spokesman, Mike Omeri, told newsmen that he would try to verify the reports.

Abia director fired for allegedly raping 11-yr-old maid to death

Governor  Theodore Orji of Abia State has directed the immediate removal of a Director of Administration representing the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on the board of the state’s oil producing areas development commission, ASOPADEC, for allegedly raping his 11-year-old housemaid to death last week.
The government, which announced the director’s removal yesterday, said he had been placed on interdiction, pending conclusion of his case by the police.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere, said the crime was heinous, adding that ASOPADEC had also been directed to take necessary action as the case progressed.
He pointed out that the suspect was only a civil servant representing the Ministry of Petroleum on the board of the commission and not a commissioner in the state executive council as alleged in some quarters.
Agbazuere explained that Section 358 of the Criminal Code of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was explicit on the issue, noting that the punishment for rape was life imprisonment.
He added that since the victim was dead, the issue of murder came in.
The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Joshak Habila, could not be reached for comments.

34-year-old graduate killed in crossfire, as gangs go to war

Operatives at the homicide unit of State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba, Lagos, are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 34-year-old graduate, who was reportedly shot dead by hoodlums at Abule-Nla, Apapa Road, Ebute Metta, Lagos.
The victim, identified as Rotimi Egunjobi, from Ekiti State, while returning from work, was allegedly caught in crossfire between two warring factions in the area.
Rotimi just completed his National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, programme.
It was learned that police officers from Iponri Divisional Police Station, stormed the area after receiving intelligence report on the ongoing crisis in the area. The hoodlums took to their heels on sighting the officers.
One Idris Rilwane was arrested at the crime scene, but he denied knowledge of the crisis. Police also apprehended one Friday Onuwa, a member of the Tortoise Boys, a faction of the hoodlums terrorizing Abule-Nla and its environs.
Onuwa said: “I am a member of Tortoise Boys. I was not involved in the feud that killed him.
“On that fateful day, I went to Badagry to visit my mother. The leader of our group is Job Ojo, alias Kako.”
Vanguard gathered that the case, which was transferred from Iponri Police Division to SCID, would soon be charged to court.

Late Aisha was never my lover— MURDER SUSPECT

The man arrested over the death of 25-year-old Silverbird staff, Aisha Noble Mustapha, weekend, in Ogudu Government Reserved Area, Lagos, has denied that he was her lover.
The suspect, identified simply as Chima, also denied having a hand in the murder. He claimed to have gone for the deceased’s rescue when he heard her shout for help penultimate Saturday.
However, accusing fingers were pointed at the 21-year-old suspect, following claims by a resident that he saw the suspect stabbing late Aisha.
This claim was corroborated by owner of the building with an undisclosed identity, who claimed to have rushed out of his flat when he heard a bang at the gate, only to meet the suspect and the deceased inside the drain in front of the building. The landlord was also arrested by the police.
Also, the deceased’s iphone was said to have been recovered from the suspect.
The flat occupied by late Aisha at 25, Salaudeen Akano Street, GRA, Ogudu, the gate was under lock.
The laundry store and eatery in front of the one-storey building were also locked, indicating that the owners could have fled for fear of being arrested in connection with her murder.
There were, however, bloodstains on the floor where late Aisha was said to have struggled with her assailant before falling inside the gutter.

The Chima we
know—NEIGHBOUR
A resident revealed that the late Aisha, who hailed from Auchi, Edo State, was the only daughter of her aged parents.
He said the suspect once lived in the same compound as the deceased.
According to the resident, “Aisha was an amiable person. She was not a noisy person. We were all stunned when we heard she was murdered in cold blood.
“Chima (the suspect) was living with his elder brother in one of the flats in the same building with late Aisha. But he had a misunderstanding with his brother and was chased out of the house.
“His brother complained that Chima was mismanaging his business. He beat up Chima and drove him out of his house. We were so shocked to discover he was connected with the murder because he left his brother’s house three weeks ago.
“But from what we gathered, Chima said he came around that day to beg his brother for forgiveness. How he was found with the deceased right inside the drain remains a mystery to be unravelled by the Police.
“A man that rushed out to see what was happening said even when he attempted to bring the deceased out of the drain, Chima held on to Aisha, preventing the man from dragging her out.
“Again, someone claimed to have seen Chima hitting late Aisha. The man said he never knew he was stabbing her, until news later filtered in. These people have all made statements at the police station.”

Family mourns
Meanwhile, her aged parents, who reside in Auchi, are reportedly yet to come to terms with the death of their only daughter.
Her aunt, Mrs Aisha Haruna, who late Aisha lived with before moving into her apartment, was crying at SCID, where the case was transferred.
Her husband, Mr. Abubakar Haruna, emotionally described late Aisha as a peace-loving fellow, expressing hope that police would be able to unearth the actual circumstance that led to her death.

Lunatic battle Rivers traffic officials over packed vehicle

It was a comic relief, yesterday, as a lunatic stopped officials of Rivers State Road Traffic Management Authority, TIMA-RIV, from impounding a vehicle at a bus-stop in Mile 1 Market, Port Harcourt.
The car was parked along Ikwerre Road and kept in madman watch. Popularly called No Shaking or Barracks No Easy, he chased away the officials.
The officials said the car was wrongly packed, arguing that the bus stop was meant for commercial vehicles alone.
Asked why he was preventing the traffic officials from getting close to the car, Barracks No Easy said in pidgin English: “I no go gree. Na by motor. You will not carry it. Barracks No Easy. You cannot enter it. You are mad for coming to carry my motor.”
He insisted that he would not allow the officers impound the car placed in his care and complained that TIMA-RIV had always made people to spend unnecessarily.
The owner of the car, who was watching the whole drama from a distance, rewarded the lunatic with N1,200 for his courage.

Police arrest late Silverbird staff's boyfriend

There were indications, yesterday, that late Aishat Noble Mustapha, the Silverbird staff, was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend.
At 7pm yesterday, the alleged assailant was being interrogated by police operatives. But he reportedly kept mum, requesting to speak with his lawyer.
Investigation so far carried out on the late Aisha showed that she was stabbed 11 times. The stabs were on her heck, stomach, shoulder and arm regions.
The late Aisha, who worked at the box office of the Silverbird Galleria, reportedly left her office at about 7.30pm for her abode in Ogudu, Lagos.
However, as she was about to drive into her building, her boyfriend reportedly emerged from nowhere and engaged her in a verbal confrontation.
Report had it that the love birds had been having issues relating to infidelity, with the boyfriend accusing Aisha of dating another man.
The argument reportedly degenerated into fisticuffs, during which Aisha was dragged out of her car before being stabbed several times.
She was reportedly abandoned by her boyfriend in the pool of her blood.

He is a bit rough in the bedroom

I love making love with my husband but he’s not very good at picking up on what I like and don’t like in bed.
He’s great at oral love making but he only does it for about two minutes and then moves on to intercourse.
I moan a lot during oral sex and try to sort of hold his head there for longer with my hands but he doesn’t seem to pick up on the hint at all.
He’s also too rough when he touches me. I've tried pushing his hands away to let him know this but he doesn’t pay any attention to that either.
I’m too shy to come right out and say what I want and don’t want but I’m starting to feel resentful about him missing all the signals I'm sending him. What should I do?

There are loads of men who don’t listen when their partners tell them they hate being touched roughly in some particular places of their anatomy— an indicator why some of these relationships fail.
Such men are too self-absorbed to pay attention to anyone’s needs but their own. But before you go screaming at him you’ve got to make sure you've been as clear as you think you can be.
You said you don’t want to voice your needs, but I don’t think you have a choice here. It’s easy to do.
The next time he’s giving you oral sex simply say, “Honey, that feels fantastic! Can you do it for longer this time?” If he’s touching you too roughly, say, “Could you be a bit gentler? I love you when you touch me really tenderly.”
None of these comments are critical, they’re encouraging so he’s unlikely to take offence.

#KANO KILLER CHILD-BRIDE: There is no case here—Defense counsel; She cannot escape death penalty through back door—Defence counsel

The prosecution counsel canvassing death penalty for 14-year-old child bride, Wasila Tasiu, over culpable homicide, has told a Kano High Court, Gezawa, that the suspect cannot escape justice through back door.
The prosecution counsel, Lamido Dinki’s position came on the heels of a no-case submission by the defence counsel, Hussaina Ibrahim, who urged the court to acquit and discharge the accused person.
Wasila Tasiu has been standing trial for the past 10 months for allegedly killing her husband and three others through food poisoning.
The prosecution lawyer told the court not to evaluate his evidence, especially as the defence lawyers were yet to enter their defence.
The state counsel further argued that “the issue about the credibility of our witnesses does not even arise, because the law said the testimony of our witnesses should only be treated on case value.”
Dinki cited Supreme Court judgement on Agbo versus the state in 2013 that “a no-case submission should be determined within the narrow compass of the legally-admissible evidence produced by the prosecution, and as such should be based on a case value.”
He said the no-case submission could not stand on the case under review, adding that such step would pave way for the accused persons to escape justice through the back door.
However, the court has reserved ruling on whether Wasila Tasiu has a case to answer under the law for March 31.
The presiding judge, Justice Muhammad Yahaya, ruled: “The court, hereby, fix March 31 for ruling on the application by the defence counsel on no-case submission on behalf of Wasila Tasiu.”

#KIM KARDASHIAN: I have sex multiple times a day

Kardashian has said she has sex with husband Kanye 'multiple times a day' in an attempt to get pregnant with second baby.
The 34-year-old reality star said the effort has left her moody and exhausted. For instance, during her recent nude photo shoot, she called Kanye to come over so they can have sex as she was ovulating.
Doctors have told her to lie supine after sex to give Kanye's sperm chance to get to ground zero. She is said to even be considering a surrogate mother.

BLOODY SUNDAY: Fulani herdsmen massacre 90 in Benue

It was a bloody Sunday in Benue State after suspected Fulani herdsmen  allegedly slaughtered over 90 persons, including women and children, at Egba village in Agatu Local Government Area of the state.

A resident of the community said the number might well exceed the current figure, since many were still missing and unaccounted for.

It was learned that the attackers, who stormed the village at about 4a.m., killed their victims, most of whom were fast asleep, in their homes after which they razed the community, destroying economic trees, food barns and farmland.

Confirming the killings, Benue State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hyacinth Dagala, said his men had arrived the village to restore peace.

Dagala, who confirmed the recovery of 30 bodies from the scene, said he would rely more on the report from his men, adding, however, that the search to recover more bodies was ongoing.

A source said: “At the moment, we have been able to recover about 90 corpses and many injured. The search is continuing, but we are facing a major challenge.
“Many survivors with injuries are being evacuated to hospitals, but the problem is that we do not have a hospital in this area that is big enough to cater for the situation we have at hand.”

My wife is too big down there

Thanks so much for the good work so for and for the way you are solving people’s problems. May the good Lord keep you and your entire family healthy for us in Jesus name.
Ma, please here is my problem. I got married in 2012 to a perfect lady I met online, via social media and she happens to be second to none. Every good home needs a woman like my wife. Honestly, she is too kind.
My problem now is that her honey port is too wide (open) and makes a lot of noise. Too much for my liking and hardly satisfies me while having sex. My thing is just the normal size.
I have been bearing this, but it is making me to start eying other girls and imagining how sweet they could be on bed. Honestly, my wife doesn’t deserve to be cheated on, hence I am begging you for any possible solution (if there is).
I don’t want her to know about this yet (unless there is solution to it) so that she won’t feel bad.
She always wants the best for me and my siblings. Please help me. Readers advice will be appreciated.
(The plea was sent to Vanguard’s Yetunde Arebi)

#EMPLOYEMENT GBEGE: This photograph set off something

A: Meanwhile, him pikins dey for abroad. NYSC dem dey carry bags of "God-knows-what"
B: Mtchew
C: Bros I find dis hard to believe.
D: Sam,off course, this was photoshopped...
E: they would be lucky to even get such jobs
F: Off point. There is dgnity in labour.there is pride in winning bread for the family. Every body cannot be in govt or oil Co.
G: Hahahahaha so laughable
E: Mmm, u (referring to F) sef born pikin ooo
F: (replying E) What has my pickin got to do with this issue?
So because Jonathan is is power, there won't be menial workers in the country?
What is the definition of employment and what are its characteristics?
By the grace of God, I understand features, principles and characteristics of capitalism and it's mode of operation. I am also conversant the basic principles of socialist economy.
None of them created an Utopia were every body who wants to work got work.
There is no economy in the world that has attained full employment for its citizens.
There is no economy that has given people their desired jobs or pay commensurate reward.
There are always inequalities and discontents.
Human want are inelastic while the resources to satisfy them are finite.
The God who created the mankind did not endow us with equal talent and equal abilities.
Jesus said "There will always be the poor"
The parable of the Talent shows that individuals are given different talents. Even those who fail to utilise their talent are warned that they will lose it.
So, what point is that Madam making with her reference to my son?
I send my son to school and I sponsor children of other people in school to give them the opportunity to get a better life.
I am not in government and I never created the condition of impoverishment in the country which are fallout of the free market economy that Nigeria is trying to create.
The man who made the cynical post did not put the educational background of those doing the menial work.
But my take is in line with Biblical injunctions that" whatever your hands find to do, do it" The Bible also tells us that "a little sleep, a little slumber and a little folding of arm so will your poverty set in."
Is it not better for the men to work and earn a living than their sitting laying about and grumbling?
A Yoruba proverbs says "shit money no dey smell"
We all have followed different path of life. Along the line fortune smiled on us, others have not been so fortunate.
If we follow Dudley Seers' argument of development and growth in an economy especially, his views on inequality, i am sure you are not on the same income with your driver Capitalism rewards " Each according to his ability while Socialism professed "to each according to his needs."
Even socialism did not achieve a condition of full employment before it collapsed.
Even in Communist China which is embracing capitalist free market principles, there are people who bound to be left behind.
This is the reason why social safety nets are created.
Even in Edo State where the post was made, Conrade Oshionhole has not created an El Dorado for every body to be in White or Blue collar jobs. Rather, this is the state of "Go and Die" Governor.
There is nothing so demeaning as people leaving substance of the argument and embark on populism just to sound political correct.
Some us have demanded that as media people we should request for the content and focus of this enchanting change
What are the conceptual frame work for the change and benchmark for implementation?
Is this merely a change of guard and persons in power to bring our people or change of system? What are the new ideas?
What is the focus and direction of this change?
What is the difference between change and transformation as we have now?
Are we really sincere when we say that Nigeria's economy has collapsed?
What are the attitudinal components of the change?
Have we become captives of political manipulations and mischief?
We have left the real issues and focus on noise. We play up frustration and transfered aggression while the political class make fool of the people.
H: (refering to the person dat posted the foto) show us the jobs created by tour own Governor. When did you start speaking for GEJ? Hope you don't want to lose your own job? Because using Edo State resources to promote GEJ can have implications. Tehehehehehehe
E: I appreciate you (refering to F). My point is, would we struggle to give our children education only for them to end up labourers? i think the answer is no
F: The picture did not give us the educational background. But it is opportunity to earn money instead of going to steal. Capitalism is cruel
I: Oga (referring to F), you've said it all. Some Nigerians do ''worse'' jobs abroad to earn their daily living and when they bring back the dollars, you don't complain. There is dignity in labour. At least they are not stealing and this gives them extra income apart from their monthly allowance.
The person wey post the foto: Not lmao
