Woman can occupy highest office in Nigeria— LAGOS HOS

The Lagos State  Head of Service, HOS, Mrs Folashade Jaji, has said that there were women capable of occupying the highest office in Nigeria if given the necessary support, urging mothers to train their sons to respect women.
She added that women in Lagos State government, for instance, had gone beyond advocating the affirmative action to taking their destiny in their hands by achieving goals and making their marks.
Mrs Jaji spoke at 2015 International Women’s Day celebration on Equality for Women, Make it Happen, organized by Trade Union Congress, TUC, Women Commission in Lagos.
Earlier, Chairperson of the commission, Mrs Oyinka Olasanoye, said: “Whether you have chosen to be a stay-at-home mother, in full-time employment or running your own business, it is essential that you are committed to developing yourself with additional training and knowledge.”
She said two-thirds of the over 700 million illiterates in the world were women, with the ratio worse in developing countries.
On his part, TUC President, Mr. Bobboi Bala-Kaigama said: “Equality for women is equality for all. Records testify to the truth that countries and companies with higher levels of gender equality have higher socio-economic growth and development.”
