Comedy of uniforms as policemen are arrested over checkpoint

A mild drama unfolded yesterday at Okota area of Lagos when some policemen, who mounted illegal checkpoint, took to their heels to evade arrest by policemen attached to the Inspector General of Police Special Task Force.
The fleeing policemen reportedly fired some shots into the air, apparently to clear the way for their escape.
Unfortunately for two of them, they were arrested and whisked into the task force's waiting van.
Eyewitnesses said: “The policemen mounted an illegal checkpoint in front of UBA bank, which caused a hitch in traffic on the already bad road.
“All of a sudden, we saw them running and shooting. Everyone concluded they had seen robbers and we also fled for dear life. One of the policemen jumped into a motorbike, while the other two were struggling for who to board the bike first.

I am about to lost my Airtel SIM card

I had to be sure it is Airtel, because I have been witness to too many changes of name since I bought my line in 2006 or '05. A friend said the present name, starting with 'A', is a strategic move, since they still have 25 alphabets to pick from.
Anyway, what's in a name? The service is what matters. And right now, I don tire. I can't explain how my airtime disappears. If I by mistake put on the data connection, Usain Bolt will envy the speed at which my airtime hit the N0.00 mark.
Even if I do not recharge in the region of N100,000, or even its half-way mark, I have this conviction that some unexplained disappearing acts is been executed by a dubious computer or human being.
Well, they have millions of subscribers, so if I dump that SIM card, it won't make any difference. But they should make sure I am the only one grumbling. Otherwise.. hem! Hem!

TOUT vs OKADAMEN: Badagry community initiates Oro, as reprisal attacks loom

Some of the burnt buildings

Aggrieved commercial motorcyclists at Era, in Badagry, a Lagos suburb, have threatened to avenge the killing of their colleagues by motor park touts, otherwise known as agbero, during a fight over collection of levy on Tuesday.
A visit to the community yesterday revealed that one of the deceased commercial motorcyclists, simply identified as Lawal, was allegedly hit with a charm.
Two others, said to have suffered same fate, had reportedly been discharged from the hospital and taken to an undisclosed herbal home for further treatment.
Residents had fled the area. Those that returned and others that stayed back remained indoors, with their children withdrawn from school. Shops and business centres were still under lock and key.

‘Lawal wasn’t working’
One of the motorcyclists, who gave his name as Benjamin, said 35-year-old Lawal was killed at Adele Bus Stop.
He said: “Lawal was not even working on that day (Tuesday). When he was accosted by the abgeros, he told them he was not working and hence would not pay the N50 levy.
“They insisted he must pay, which led to a heated argument, during which he was attacked with local charms.
‘’He spun several times before falling down dead. Two other persons, who came to know what the problem was, were hit with the charm. But they did not die, as they were rushed to a nearby hospital, from where they were transferred to a traditional home.”
A member of Landlord/ Resident Association in the community, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said almost all commercial motorcyclists in the community were from Kogi State.

Of petroleum marketers and private hell

File photo of where it all started
Tupac had spent less than 10 minutes in hell when the devil found him smoking a sizeable wrap of igbo. Alarmed at Shakur's possible ambitions, the devil gave him some fuel and lighter, saying “go and establish your own hell. This one is mine.”
When President Goodluck Jonathan woke up one good morning and threw fuel subsidy away, Nigerians took to the streets as labour unions shut down the country. In Lagos, protests turned to carnivals and the opposition provided the victuals. For me, it was difficult to decide whether we were all intoxicated by the smell of fuel in the air (but none to use), happy to be freed from boredom or dangling from the strings of a puppeteer.
Yes, Bros Jona has the gift of creating the impression of waking up from a haze and springing surprises. But at worst, fuel would have been sold for N200 per litre. At best, market forces will force down the price. Except, expectedly, the marketers form a cartel to fix price and blind government regulators with a few dollars more. Whichever way the tombo tomobo mess Calabar swings, Nigerians will buy. Just make the product is available.

‘I was forced to lie with corpse, drink water used to wash it’

Bode

Wasiu
A 29-year-old mechanic, Bode David, is yet to recover from being made to spend a night with the corpse of his friend, late Ganiyu, and drink the water used to wash it, to prove he was not responsible for his death.
It was gathered that the incident, which happened at Isheri Magodo, a suburb of Lagos, was executed because before Ganiyu gave up the ghost in the hospital, he kept calling Bode’s name.
Recounting his ordeal, Bode, an indigene of Ekiti State, a mechanic, who specialized in fixing Japanese vehicles, said: “I knew the late Ganiyu and Wasiu in January, when I was looking for someone to fix my faulty Honda car.
“That was when Ganiyu introduced me to Wasiu to fix my car. After he fixed my car, I paid him N35,000. Since then, we have had no business except when our paths occasionally crossed and we exchange pleasantries.
“On Tuesday, Wasiu called me at about 6p.m., saying they need my help urgently. He said Ganiyu was in the hospital and that they needed money to purchase pints of blood and drips, which was about N19, 000.
“He pleaded with me to come. At about 7pm, without any idea that Ganiyu was dead, I drove my car to the junction of their street, called him on phone that he should come and collect N5,000, which was all that I had to assist Ganiyu’s treatment at that time.
“When he came to where I parked my vehicle, he said the hospital was nearby, so we walked towards where he said the hospital is located.

Kidnappers demand N130,000 for 3-yr-old abducted in Lagos church

A three-year-old boy, identified as Emmanuel Chibuike Ejiogu, was yesterday kidnapped from the Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement in Palm Grove area of Lagos.
The toddler, it was gathered, was discovered missing after the close of service.
Information revealed that his abductors later put a call to the devastated parents, demanding for N700,000. A family source said after much plea, they reportedly settled for N130,000.
As at 8.15p.m, frantic efforts were still on to rescue him.
A family source said: “The parents have been able to gather N120,000 out of the N130,000 demanded. The money was borrowed from relatives and friends.
“The kidnappers agreed for N130,000 after much plea. They have told them where to keep the money, assuring that they would see their child.”

Lekki robbery suspects: Something is wrong

I do not mean to trivialise the magnitude of the incident. I only wish to ask a few questions, because someone might be toying with lives and deeper issues.
Should we believe an illegal oil bunkerer who was says “I led the team that went in”?
Do these paraded suspects look anything like the pictures of hunky bandits that were raining bullets on Lekki on that day?
If he led the team, shouldn’t he get more than N500,000? Is that amount not too on-point (N12,000,000 divided by 22 gang members)?
Who is lying and why?
Or am I seeing too much?
In fact, execution of that operation was too clinical to involve these hungry looking touts.
There is so much that you can see if you look deep enough.

What do we do with these hags? Yes, hags

They have been there and will remain there. Yet things get worse. If they have no shame, since conscience have long deserted them, is there no one around to tell them their faces remind us of the different types of evils in the country?
Please, take your money (our money, actually) and eat it quietly. Your faces cause indigestion.

My best friend's fiance is my lover

My best friend is getting married soon. What she doesn’t know is that her fiance and I are lovers.
I was quite put off when he proposed to her. But he said she was pregnant, that if I’d got pregnant first, he would have married me.
We still have sex because he says he still loves me. Now, he talks about their wedding plan and I’m dying inside.

Epileptic okadaman sensed an impending attack, asked passenger to alight, then collapsed

Uba was rejected as goal keeper, now he owns Ifeanyi Uba United

Sitting second in the log with 13 points from 7 matches, newly promoted Ifeanyi Uba United has been one of the surprise teams of the 2014/15 Glo Professional League season, so far. For a team that is tasting top flight action for the first time in over a decade to exert so much authority and lord it over and above relatively ‘older’ clubs in the league speaks volumes.
One may say it is still early to praise the club’s exploits in the top flight, but it can be argued that Ifeanyi Uba United have brought about a fresh breath into the Nigerian Professional Football League.
Originally called Gabros International Football Club of Nnewi, the club changed it name to Ifeanyi Uba United following the change in ownership structure, just before the kick off of the ongoing season. The entry of Chief Ifeanyi Uba into the Nigerian football family has been welcomed by all those who know him and his football roots.

Goal keeper Uba
Chief Uba was a goalkeeper with his childhood club, Gabros International Football Club in the early 1990s. Indeed, he went for trials in coach Fanny Amun’s U-17 camp, alongside the likes of Nwankwo Kanu, Wilson Oruma, Peter Anosike, Celestine Babayaro, Pascal Ojigwe among others.
In the goalkeeping department, Amun preferred Emmanuel Babayaro, Destiny Iyonu and Emmanuel Okhenoboh to Uba. That was how he missed the cut to Japan.

I'm devastated my toy-boy's getting married

A while back, I got together with a 28-year-old man I met through a friend. He’s a very good-looking man and the sex was mind-blowing.
I am 39 and married with three children. It was my friend through whom I met this guy that told me he would soon be getting married. As you can imagine, I was devastated.
When I asked him, he simply cut off all contact with me. I’m really hurting. How could he do that to me?

What has this toy-boy of yours done to you that you haven’t done to him? He was only having fun, dating a woman years older than he is, and so were you.
Or, did you think any permanent relationship could come off it?
If you are serious about this fling, it means something is seriously wrong with your marriage and you need to address this urgently.

My boyfriend's dad is better in bed

My boyfriend and I have been courting for about a year and I stay over at his house for the weekends. His parents are divorced and my boyfriend lives with his father.
His dad is not interested in remarrying, but has a string of girlfriends. My boyfriend works in a bank and often goes to the office on Saturday morning to catch up on some paper work.
As soon as he leaves, however, I sneak off to his dad’s side of the house and we always have great sex. The man’s prowess is unbelievable and he has taught me a lot on how to really enjoy sex.
Whenever I ask my boyfriend to try some of these things his dad taught me, he becomes wide-eyed and wants to know when and from whom I learned such ‘perverted’ acts.
I’m having the best of two worlds as my boyfriend’s dad is very generous to me. If it comes to choosing between him and his dad, I’m afraid I would go for the dad any day. Should I tell my boyfriend?

Why don’t you ask his dad how he would feel if you were to throw over his son for him?
You‘re obviously playing with fire and sooner or later, you will get burnt. The only person I feel sorry for is your boyfriend.
If you’re as randy as you’ve made out in your letter, then you should cast your net further afield — it would be a shame to hurt a family that shows you nothing but hospitality.
