11-yr-old boy trekked from Lagos to Abeokuta because father spanked him

The 11-year-old boy, Marvelous Adekunle, who was declared missing last Wednesday in Lagos, has been found in Ogun State.
Unlike every other missing child in the state, the Junior Secondary School, JSS, 1 student was discovered not to have been kidnapped afterall.
Surprisingly, the lad disclosed that he went in search of his mother, who resides in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He revealed to the shock of everyone that he trekked from Lagos to Abeokuta for two days but along the line, missed his way before some concerned Nigerians took him to his mother.
He was brought home to his  father at about 9am yesterday, by his mother.
Explaining how he managed to trek that far to relatives, friends, neighbours and members of  Jehovah Witness who had waited anxiously for his return, Marvelous said: “I left home that morning to meet my mother.
“When it was dark, I slept at any available place, covering myself with cartons and nylon which I found around. I did not eat any thing. I only drank water.
“I begged people to give me water and they did because I was not with money. I slept in the open for two nights. On the third day, I discovered I had missed my way. I did not know where I was. It was some people who discovered I was missing that took me to my mother.”
He, however, did not give reasons for bolting from home.
A family friend, Mr. Moses Ekundayo, confirmed Marvelous’s return, saying “yes, he is back and we are all happy.”
Ekundayo informed that policemen at the Juvenile centre at Alapere, where the case was reported, had been informed of Marvelous' return.
It was reported that his father, Festus Adekunle, had spanked him for taking his laptop to school two days before he disappeared.
Immediately  he was taken to his mother at about 8.43 pm last Friday in Abeokuta, she contacted her husband in Lagos to inform him.
