The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs Folashade Odoro, announced this in a statement yesterday.
Odoro said the incident happened on Tuesday at about 10a.m.
Meanwhile, the policemen, also yesterday, said unknown assailants strangled to death an elderly couple in Gbongan area of the state.
Mrs Odoro said in a statement, yesterday, that their bodies were found at about 11a.m. at their residence in Gbongan.
She said the couple’s son, Caleb Akanbi, reported the death of his parents to the police after he found them strangled.
Speaking on the man who killed his brother and then committed suicide, Odoro said: “One Abifarin Opeyemi reported that her father, one Ayo Abifarin, 40, of Aros Compound, was murdered by his younger brother. The younger brother used a heavy stick to hit him on his head.
“When the incident happened, people tried to save Abifarin by rushing him to the hospital, but he died on the way.
“When the police went to arrest the culprit, he was, however, found dead in a pool of his blood in his compound. The bodies of the siblings have been moved by the police and deposited at the State General Hospital for autopsy.”
She also said that the case was under investigation.
On the elderly couple’s death, Odoro said: “When police got to the scene of the incident, Mr. Reuben Akanbi, 70, and his wife, Victoria, 68, who lived in an isolated house, were found dead with marks of violence on them.
“The crime is suspected to have been carried out overnight and the bodies have been removed and deposited at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
“Police special detectives have been deployed to fish out the killers.”
