THE Administrator of one of the local government areas of Kogi State has been arrested by policemen in connection with the reported assassination attempt on the life of Senator Dino Melaye.
The said council boss was arrested by operatives of the special squad drafted from Police Force Headquarter, Abuja, at about 1.30p.m. at the premises of the Ministry of Education, Lokoja.
Vanguard gathered that he has been whisked to Abuja.
Some gunmen, on Easter eve, at about 12 midnight, invaded the house of Senator Dino Melaye at Aiyetoro-Gbede, destroyed two of his vehicles and riddled his building with bullets.
Confirming the arrest, the state Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, said his Command was also working round the clock on the issue, stressing that attempt on somebody’s life was a very serious issue and the force would do everything possible to investigate the alleged assassination attempt.
His words: “Nobody is above the law. We are still investigating and we must get to the root of the issue,” adding that some other arrests had been made, while guns were also recovered from some of those arrested.
