Housewife wants 14-yr-old marriage dissolved over excessive sex

Most marriages are dissolved based on lack of sex, but that was not the case of Foluke Ojo, a housewife in Akure, the Ondo State capital, who approached a magistrate’s court to dissolve her 14-year-old marriage over excessive demand for sex by her husband, Busuyi.

Foluke approached the court, seeking dissolution of the marriage, saying she was tired of the union and alleging that her husband was no more taking care of her and the family members hence her love for him had gone.
The applicant alleged that she cannot tolerate the excessive demand for sex from her husband, adding that any time she turned him down, he would beat her, after which he would still go ahead and have sex with her.
She told the court: “I cannot withstand the request of my husband. He is always asking for sex. He will not take care of me or the family, yet he will always be requesting for sex.
“If I refuse him sex, he would beat the hell out of me and after the beating session, he would still shamefully have sex with me. I am fed up with this marriage.
“I want to end this relationship. It was my mother that rescued me from one of the beating sessions and took me to hospital.”

“She dresses
like a prostitute”
In his response, the husband, Busuyi, who equally said he has no more interest in the wedlock, denied all the allegations levelled against him by his wife, describing her as “not behaving like a responsible wife.”
According to him, “she dresses like a prostitute. She wears anything she likes, forgetting that she is a housewife.”
He asked the court to grant his wife’s request of dissolving the 14-year-old marriage.
Having heard from both parties, President of the court, Ayodele Omotola, in his ruling, said there was an indication that the relationship had broken down between the couple.
Omotola ordered the respondent to pay N5,000 to the court for the food allowances of their children and then adjourned the case till today for judgment.
