Middle-aged woman survives a frightening crash

A middle-aged woman (names withheld), yesterday, escaped death by the whiskers along Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in the heart of Awka, when her Volvo CX90 car with number plates AGL 848 EM, veered off the road and fell into a culvert.
The accident, which occurred at 2.30p.m., attracted a large number of sympathisers, who thought she was dead. But they saw the woman crawling out of the car through the boot, without a scratch on her.
An eyewitness said the woman was descending the flyover with speed, when her car swerved, crashed into electric poles and then somersaulted several times before ending up in the culvert.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, who arrived the scene soon after, said the woman did not sustain injuries because she had her seat belt on.
