A traditional ruler of a community in Ikorodu area of Lagos has been arrested alongside three others in connection with activities of Badoo cult’s killings in the community with the latest on Sunday claiming the lives of a family of four at Oke- Ota Ibeshe community
The traditional ruler, identified simply as Awoyemi, was said to have been arrested for allowing his domain to be used as haven for badoo boys to perform rituals with human blood.
This is coming on the heels of the uncovering of shrines used by Badoo members to perform rituals at the end of any operation by Police operatives.
It was gathered that five graves, big-horned figurines, as well as left over sacrifices were discovered at the shrines located in a forest in Agbowa area of Ikorodu.
Police sources hinted that owner of the shrine, one Alaka Abayomi and two operators, whose identities were given as Christian Junior and Bamidele Owoyemi, were arrested in the shrine.
Operatives including the Inspector-General of Police Special Tactical Squad, STS, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in -charge of Operations, Imohimi Edgar, who acted on intelligence, stormed the forest in the early hours of yesterday.
Owner of the shrine, Abayomi, took policemen and journalists round the shrines. Entry into some of the rooms housing the shrines was almost impossible as they had iron doors.
Most residents, who expressed joy over the raid of the shrines, lamented that several complaints of atrocities committed there did not yield the desired result.
They also accused traditional rulers of some communities in Ikorodu of allegedly sponsoring the Badoo boys, calling on the Police to carry out discreet investigation that would expose the perpetrators.
Police sources said: “Yes, two operators of the shrines in a thick forest in Agbowa area of Ikorodu have been arrested, alongside two others. They are major suspects in yesterday’s (Sunday) incident.
“By this arrest, traditional rulers in Ikorodu should know that their exalted office has privileges and responsibilities. Since they have subjects within their domains, they should educate them on the need to identify residents, particularly new people that are moving into their areas.
“Members of badoo live in their communities. With the security measures put in place, no external person can come and commit atrocity in Ikorodu.
“Traditional rulers in the axis should not fold their hands and watch people being killed in their domains. They should also discourage their subjects from building inside the bush.”
Spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Olarinde Famous-Cole, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, confirmed the raid of the shrine, promising to give detailed report on the arrest soon.
