Recall that Hamburger was shot dead during the councillorship primaries of All Progressives Congress, APC, at Shogunle area of Lagos, two months ago.
The suspects, whose identities were given simply as Samson and Tunde, were reportedly taken to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Yaba.
Meanwhile, Hamburger’s widow, Alhaja Abolore Bello, said she had not been allowed to see the faces of her husband’s alleged killers, expressing disappointment over the denial.
The widow, who got back to the country in the company of her eldest child, for the burial of her late husband, told journalists yesterday: “My husband was killed on May 29 by a gang.
“According to eyewitnesses, they killed my husband and ran away. But later, the boys handed themselves over to Police at Panti, after community and family members sent a petition to different offices for their arrest.
“The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, and some other top officials were at our residence to pay us condolence visits. They all promised us justice. Now that two of the culprits are in police custody, my family and I demand justice.
“I was at Panti to meet with policemen in charge of the investigation. They confirmed that the suspects were in their custody. I am pleading with Owoseni to ensure justice is done as he had earlier promised.
“We are talking about a family man with kids and an aged mother. He was the breadwinner of our family and his life was snuffed out just like that. I want Nigerians to be aware of what is going on. I believe that nobody should be above the law.
“I am saying this because my daughter and I have not been allowed to see the faces of the suspects. Every attempt towards that has met a brick wall. I do not know why the Police are shielding them from us.”
When contacted, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the arrest of the suspects, adding that they were still being interrogated.
