These baaaaaad boys met at the
commendation service for late Deacon Gamaliel Onosode at Ikoyi
Baptist Church, Lagos.
The good Lord knows how many knocks and
flogging (secondary school) and sleepless nights (tertiary level)
these grey hairs gave me! I still grapple with some of their works.
However, ‘Abiku,’ whichever
version, is now good mainly for its poetics and as a reflection on the ignorance that characterised our forefathers' existence, the subject matter haven
been ‘neutralised’ by the knowledge of sickle cell anaemia.
