Fani-Kayode adamant over N840m campaign fund

Abuja—There were indications last night that the embattled former Aviation Minister and spokesman of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, might not be freed from the custody of the anti-graft agency in a short while.
Vanguard learned that the former minister was adamant that the N840 million he got from the Finance Director of the campaign organisation, Nenadi Usman, was promptly used for the specified assignments outlined for him.

However, EFCC is insisting that he produces the records of how the sum was expended and who the beneficiaries were and why they were entitled to such public funds.
To show that it was serious about keeping the former minister in its custody, EFCC, yesterday, procured a remand warrant to further keep the former minister for a long time.
Sources said that Fani-Kayode was claiming that he did not know that the money he collected came from the public till. He is said to have told the interrogators that he had all along assumed that the N840 million came from private donations for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which hired him to handle the media for the presidential election.
