Nigerian soldiers fighting terrorists in the North-East of the country, yesterday, arrested a Boko Haram kingpin and three women suspected to be logistics personnel and arms suppliers for the group.
The arrest occurred just as five members of a kidnapping gang, who also engage in banditry, were killed by soldiers during a shootout in Bauchi State.
In separate statements from Army headquarters by Col Sani Usman, acting Director, Defence Information, the Army said: “On Sunday afternoon, a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Adamu Nuhu, was arrested at Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area, Borno State, following a tip-off by well-meaning Nigerians.
“He is currently being interrogated. Similarly, at 5.43p.m., yesterday, three women suspected to be spouses of wanted Boko Haram terrorists and logistics suppliers were arrested at Miringa Market by vigilante members in the town, and handed them over to troops.
“In the same vein, yesterday, at 1.30p.m., troops of 33 Brigade Nigerian Army deployed in Forward Operation Base, FOB, Ningi, came across suspected kidnappers at Dutsen Makurd, Ningi LGA.
