Keke operator, passengers beat Abia traffic warden to stupor

A warden attached to the Traffic and Indiscipline Management Agency of Abia State, TIMAAS, identified as Chukwuemeka Nwosu, has been admitted at the Seventh Day Adventist, SDA, Hospital, Aba, after he was attacked by a motorist.
Trouble started for Nwosu, when he tried to stop a tricycle operator for driving against traffic to beat the gridlock on the Ogbor Hill Waterside Bridge; the driver refused to stop.
Eyewitnesses said  the TIMASS official allegedly damaged the windscreen of the tricycle which infuriated the driver and some of his passengers, who descended on Nwosu and beat him to stupor.
Afraid that the TIMAAS official may have died, his attackers fled while a Good Samaritan later took him to the SDA hospital where he is still receiving medical attention.
When contacted on phone, the Deputy Commander General of TIMAAS, Bright Ikeokwu, who confirmed the incident, said the victim was in a stable condition.
According to him, “we (TIMAAS) don’t bear arms and all we are doing is to ensure that we restore discipline among road users which is in public interest.
“This is why we are saying that any person caught driving against traffic should go for a psychiatric test.”
He said that TIMAAS would be partnering police to arrest errant motorists in the city.
