According to one of the six On Chance robbery suspects arrested by operatives of Rapid Response Squad, RRS, in Lagos, yesterday, the economic situation in the country is affecting ‘business.’
The suspect, Adeleke Rasaq, 24, who was arrested alongside his gang members, Lucky John, 22, in Abule-Egba, Agbado Oke Local Council Development Area, they do not make much money from One Chance as they used to in the past.
One Chance is the popular name for a type of robbery in Lagos, where unsuspecting passengers are robbed in commercial buses, Danfo, whose ‘driver’ and some ‘passengers’ are members of a robbery gang.
The arrested Adeleke, who resigned as a factory worker to join One Chance robbery gang, said: “We do not make much money like before. The present economic condition in the country has greatly affected One Chance business. We have not been able to make much money— everywhere is dry.”
Corroborating Adeleke’s confession, his gang’s member, Frankly, said: “We have not made much money since Monday (last week). We have been sharing N20,000, N30,000 and N40,000.
“This is unlike before. When I operate alone, I could make close to N150,000 daily. Now, business is so difficult.”
He said he teamed up with Lucky because pocket-picking was not easy in Lagos any longer.
He said: “When you work alone, you might not make much. It has not been easy working independently lately. So we have to team up to make more money to survive. Both of us live in Badagry.
“Every day, we come to Abule Egba, Agege, Fagba, Egbeda to operate. As soon as we make enough money, we would retire for the day.”
Explaining how he joined the robbery syndicate, he said: “I resigned from the company I worked for when I noticed that a lot of my friends in Ajegunle, who were doing this kind of hustling were living better than companies’ chief executives.
“Every guy does this in Ajegunle. We do not see it as a crime: it is called hustling,” adding that he joined the gang six years ago.

3 injured in free-for-all over Ronaldo, Messi in Abakiliki
Three football fans were wounded in a free-for-all in a bar in Abakaliki on Saturday night over an argument about who is the better player between Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal and Lionel Messi of Argentina.
An eyewitness said that the incident occurred at the Kpirikpiri area of the town during the EURO 2016 second round match between Portugal and Croatia.
Portugal won the match 1-0 courtesy of a Ricardo Quaresma 114th minute goal that sent them into the competition’s quarter-finals.
Trouble started when a Ronaldo supporter, identified as Marshal, celebrated wildly as the Real Madrid star’s shot was parried into Quaresma’s path for the goal, to the annoyance of the Messi supporter, named Obinna.
The duo had argued all night over who the better player is between Messi and Ronaldo: the stars play for Spanish clubs, Barcelona FC and Real Madrid FC, respectively.
It was learned that immediately Quaresma scored, Marshal rushed to Obinna and mocked him, chanting “I told you, I told you Ronaldo is the best.” Obinna reportedly pushed Marshal and a fight ensued.

Will my boyfriend ever propose after 19 years together?
My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 20 years and we have two children whom he takes full responsibility for.
We’ve discussed marriage but he says with the high rate of divorce and the experience he’s had living in a polygamous home, he doesn’t want the hassle of a divorce if we ever spilt up.
Everyone around me is married, but my man simply refuses. I feel so rejected; we don’t live together. Do you think he’s using me?

Is he controlling me through sex?
I love my boyfriend, but when he wants sex, he wants it right away— whether I’m about to leave for work, I’m getting ready to meet friends or just in a hurry to get something done at home.
I used to find this quite a turn-on, but recently a friend has warned me by suggesting it could be his way of controlling me, especially if I’m about to do something that doesn’t involve him.
What do you think?

Sahur is not breakfast
As-salam Alaikum waramotullai, wa barakatuh!
The kindness of Allah cannot be overemphasised when one ponders on the blessings in the act of eating sahur during Ramadan. For almighty Allah (SWT), it is not enough blessings that He provides us with food on our table, but He further blesses anyone who wakes up in the first rays of dawn to eat the same food for sahur.
The Prophet (s.a.w) was reported by Anas to have said: “Eat something for sahur even if it is a date. For there is in it barakah.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) Isn’t it great that Allah is rewarding us for eating?
The prophet taught his companions and, by extension, every Muslim that they should begin their fasting by taking something. It does not necessarily have to be a heavy meal. In fact, overeating negates the spirit of fasting. It is advised to wake in the pre-dawn period to appropriately kick-start fasting by eating sahur among other things. Eat moderately even as you remember those who could not afford a meal for that purpose.

Master's students drown during birthday party in Lagos beach
Tragedy struck in Lagos when two ladies drowned at Elegushi Beach, Lekki.
The ladies, Funmi, 24, and Shola, 27, were graduates of International Relations from Covenant University, Otta, Ogun State, and were studying for their Masters in International Law and Diplomacy at the University of Lagos, UNILAG.
The deceased, who were in the company of some friends, were at the beach to celebrate the birthday of one of their friends, when an alarm was raised by one of them, who noticed a heavy tide sweeping the ladies away.
Unfortunately for them, they drowned before help could come, with some local divers saying such incidents occurred daily.

ALLI
I'm that star up in the sky
I'm that mountain peak up high
Hey, I made it
I'm the worlds greatest
And I'm that little bit of hope
When my back's against the ropes
I can feel it mmm
I'm the world's greatest
I'm that mountain peak up high
Hey, I made it
I'm the worlds greatest
And I'm that little bit of hope
When my back's against the ropes
I can feel it mmm
I'm the world's greatest
